Sacraments
BAPTISM
To arrange to have your child baptised, or if you are and adult seeking baptism, please see
Fr Carl after Sunday Mass who will give you the necessary forms to
complete and return.
If you have any other queries
Fr Carl will always be happy to speak to you after Mass.
HOLY COMMUNION
Children in Year 4 of Primary school preparing for their First Holy Communion and Reconciliation need to be registered for our Sacramental Programme at our Registration Mass, which usually occurs in the Autumn Term. Dates for this Mass are advertised in the parish newsletter. Baptised adults who have not made their first Holy
Communion are welcome to speak to Fr Carl about preparing to receive this sacrament.
CONFIRMATION
The Christian rite by which admission to the church, established previously in baptism, is said to be confirmed or sealed. It is one of the sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church.
Registration for Confirmation usually takes place via the 'Liverpool Called' website available from January of each year.
Otherwise speak directly to Fr Carl.
MARRIAGE
For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values. Those wishing to be married at St Richards or Sacred Heart churches should contact Fr Carl.
RECONCILIATION
The Sacrament of Reconciliation or 'Confession' is one of the "Healing Sacraments" , it restores our relationship with God and helps heal us through the forgiveness of our sins. Confession gives us the strength and grace to continue our faith journey. Confession is available on request.
ANNOINTING OF THE SICK
The sacrament of anointing of the sick brings comfort and help to those who are ill or in the final stages of life.
If you or your loved one requires anointing please contact Fr Carl, or in emergency any local priest.
